CR in a Superduty

Hey Gang,
I'm in the middle of my second winter with this truck. This is an 03 cummins in an 01 F250. Cold starts are getting tougher and I don't think the intake heater is coming on. Can anyone tell me how you wired your grid heaters? Are you letting the ECM handle the heat cycle? Or, did you put a manual switch somewhere on the dash? I'm in the Denver area and we are seeing temps in the single digits.
Thanks for helping me with this one.

It starts fine when it is plugged in. If it is out in the cold and not plugged in, it will not start without a shot of ether.

What was telling the heaters to come on? I mean, the Dodge computer or the Ford one?

I put a pair of LED's hooked into the power to the heater on mine to know when they were actually on versus the WTS light. That might be something to consider. If I did a conversion, I would just have a push button switch to bring in the solenoids, but that's me being simple.

I think the Dodge ECM is controlling the grid heater.
I'll have to check when I finally warms up.

Invest in a clamp style multimeter then you can measure the amp draw from the grid heater.
I would say your heater isn't working, you would have had a big problem with the either otherwise.
