Tire pressure?

High or low on the transfer case?

You can do it for fun if you've got the clutch for it. Nothing else will break...Technically if you are doing it for serious competition, you should be in 2nd HI, or 5th LO

I agree with these guys...if she's stock, watch the pull and build your truck right...I pulled with my 96 12 valve last year (intake, exhaust, sb 400hp clutch and 10 plate full forward)...I slipped the clutch trying it in 3rd, 4low...felt like an idiot...then backed up and ran in 2nd in 4 low and crawled about 200 ft...

and amen to the trailer queens...around where I pull we arent even sanctioned so i had to run against brand new trucks with stacked chips and drugs...

Clutch??

Now I heard on some of the forums that my 2002 6 speed HO has a larger clutch than some of the other years. Is this true? Really, the stock engine will take out the clutch? Is the damage done slipping the clutch to get it going? Or, will it slip under power when fully engaged?

you will slip it getting going. Then, more than likely, it will be damaged enough to slip when fully engauged, under load

Worked for me. Interesting video. So did it have to be trailered home? or did it have enough to get down the road?

It made it home, and actually drove for another 3 months on that clutch. But using a trailer and pulling a hill with anything more than 1/3 throttle proved pointless. A SBC DD fixed that problem though. Man did it stink up the cab for weeks after that pull. Nasty...

And the flywheel sure didn't like it either.
