Tug-O-War
 

Anyone have any more info on this competition? I was surfing looking for more Tug-O-War vids and came across this article. Wanted to see how the Ford won. Just curious..

Tug a wars is all about traction. Your truck can have 3,000 rwtq but if a truck with 300 rwtq has the traction advantage, you will lose. Wieght of vehicle, and tires play a huge role in traction.

My brother and I hooked bumpers one evening in his field, he has an extended cab long bed Ford with the V-10/auto, and 4.10 gears. truck is stock, and wieghs 6740# (He does have new mud tires 285`s) my truck out wieghs his by 500#, has about 400-450 more rear wheel ft lb tq, but has nearly bald all-terrain tires, also 285`s. The tug a war ended after he dug down (only 3 tires) about 6-8 inches. He didn't move me, but I couldn't move him either. And even though all 4 of my tires spun, I barely dug through the grass.

The way some think, I should have out pulled him easy, because of power and wieght, while others would think his tires would make all the difference!

there must not have been a properly weighed and BOMBed cummins in teh group.. if so no ferd woulda had a chance...

I dont like to pick on the competition but unless it's an Inline, it isn't a diesel. Them V-8's just sound like a gasser with a bad knock.

Have you listened to some of the common rail Cummins? Some of them sound like a bubble bee on seroids. [yuk]

I know a person who has a H1, and was challanged to a pull by a very BOMBED Ford PS on pavement. Notice I said person, not friend, as he is so strung out about his car, I won't even call it a truck, that he is impossible to deal with. Anyway the Ford ended up blowing his rear differential out through the cover. A pavement pull will do that, vs a dirt pull, where the tires can spin. The H1 has a 2.7 rear end, but from there, each wheel has a 1.9 reduction gear, which will distribute the torque better than a straight differential. Interesting.
