TEXAS sled pulls
my grey truck weighed 7510 and my green truck 8320 or something. My buddies mega cab weighed like 8940. I had about 550 in the floor board, heck I've got a weight rack for the front but everybody kept saying no weights, so I was trying to go by the rules..
Buck I was just curious to see if it could ever get to 6800lbs... To run in the 6800lbs Open class with the tractors.. It didn't look like there was a lot more that could be taken off without cutting...

I don't think blocks or hanging weights are necessary for the street class, but traction bars should be allowed if for nothing else to avoid breaking parts. I don't see the problem with adding non-hanging weights if you want to push the bracket, and the street class really should have a 9000# limit - when we reworked the '05 for this season, we could only get it down to 9K (and that's with me, 5 gallons of #2 and no spare)... both trucks usually ran 10K#.
I don't mind street class w/o drugs, but please no mandatory removal of systems! Isn't it enough to have empty/missing tanks?
I do think they should at least look under the hood and measure the lunette ring height.
Street class is where you'll get plenty of working trucks (which is what I think they're made for!) that are on the heavy side, but who wants to unload the bed for a 10 second pull? Sucks enough at the strip that it takes us 2 hours to prep the truck after unhooking from the GN...
Besides, the same guys that are hooking with a relatively light truck probably don't mind taking a few minutes to load weights - for instance, if you're lighter than 7500 with the power to pull in a 9K# class, you've obviously taken the time to bomb your rig.
In short, when Bubba wants to take the farm truck to the pull or SledEater wants to hook in the street class - they both will fit in rulewise.
... if Bubba wants to win he has to bring an extra thousand ft-lbs., and if SledKiller want to win he has to bring an extra thousand pounds.
Main thing is - let's make it FUN!
Let the big boys with deep pockets have braggin' rights... everyone else competing is having just as much fun at a fraction of the cost, doing stuff that 99% of truck owners only dream about.

Like I said.. it will probably be easier to find a set of rules and just run whats been established... You won't please eveyone.. If you can get a set of rules ironed out.. they need to stay the same for the entire year.. (Except Safety rules.) Don't forget about safety items, especially for the hotter classes.. loops or shields over the U joints.. and some type of kill system..
I know the TTTPA guys are going to be concerned about safety after having clutch or flywheel come apart last week in tractor. That would really have been ugly in an Aluminum bell housing...

Thats no kidding that guys lucky he still has toes!! I know what the drugs meant but how about it in the street class, as in water/meth only, its more of a "save your motor" deal than power really 100h.p. not that much!!
Yea.. it broke the back of the block off the engine.. not pretty... Good thing for the steal guards they have to run.. (not sure he had a steel flywheel either.) Stock class are not that big of an issue...
Stephenville was nice, with keeping everyone away from the track.. DeLeon people start sitting along the fence.. and some places there is nothing between the pulling trucks/Tractors and the people watching... Anything can happen...
The heavier the classes.. the slower the trucks go.. and the more parts will be broken...

Just more reason, Brian, to exclude all drugs in street class - that way they'll be heavy enough to generate crowd-pleasing mechanical carnage, but not powerful enough to cause grievous bodily harm!
