Rules for NC Pull
Aright I've posted before about the pulls in Carolina, Newland is the name of the track.
I've heard so much about rules for the diesel class I searched online and found the rules they go by, or act like they go by. Here is the link for the page with them on it. http://www.webspawner.com/users/8000...les/index.html Check some of these out, no duallys, stock exhaust, 33" tire max. It looks like they choose to only enforce some of these, or only when they feel they need to. Also here are the rules for the super stock diesel truck class. http://www.webspawner.com/users/atpa...les/index.html Seems like a class they need to start using too, split the diesel class and get some more trucks down there |
yup just looking at those rules and they actually dont enforce very many of them at all....
|
No they don't enforce a one really. There have been quite a few duallys pulling, and even more trucks with bigger than 33"s. Stock exhaust is a joke, almost nobody that pulls retains a factory exhaust.
If they are trying to gain some credability they should either follow these rules to the tee, or draft their own set and put them on their website. They should also have a copy on hand for anyone who wishes to pull and do a quick tech inspection on every truck entered. That might catch a few fords trying to slip in under the radar though, can't have that if they want a chance keeping with the big Cummins' |
Where can i get some more info on the pulls?
i am in western NC and im lookin for somewhere to pull. |

Rules
I think the rules you have are for the pulls in VA, I have been pulling at Newland since it opened and with the people there long before that. the only rules I have seen for the diesel class are that the truck must weight less than 8000LB and the hitch height limit is 26". I have done well pulling there and have had several protest about my truck, you now are not to use Blocks, Nitrous, front weight racks, and no draw bar hitches. at least thats what I am told so far, who knows what the next complaint will be? I hear there a few more powerfull trucks showing up now and have a feeling my winning streek is over.
the next pull is May 27th gates open at 5 pm pull starts at 7 pm and the diesels pull late { usually around 10-11pm } If you need pull info call this man he owns and runs the pull track John Winslow 1-252-202-2588 cell# flyer #'s are 252-771-2703, 252-331-5818, 252-771-5441 I hope this info helps some, if something isnt correct I am sorry. I hope some of you guys show up Sat. |
JDGPuller is correct, there are no set rules there like by the NTPA. That is a whole different sanction that regulates most of the larger pulls. Newland goes by their own rules at the track, not some already written up. I dont believe I've seen anybody with the front weight racks, but I may be wrong, I havent been to any this year yet, and missed quite a few last year due to rain.
JDGPuller, I do not feel as if you're winning streak is over. I do not know what you have done to your truck, that is your personal info, but I believe most of the other diesel boys were relying on a box and nitrous/propane to help them along. I think these rules will make for more trucks that are built for power, like your's is, instead of just popping a few things on there(boxes, exhaust, etc). I'm going to try to go the pull on Saturday night, but I dont know if I'm going to be able to make it. I do not have to work Sunday, but my gf is coming from back home Saturday afternoon, and I'm not so sure she wants to come to Greenville then turn around and go back to E City. Not sure though on what I may do, if I can fit a few people in the truck with me to help with diesel fuel costs, I'll come on with it, but not pull, just watch(got to do lots of work to my truck to get it right to pull, along with first paying it off). |
Yes I believe your right about no one with a weight rack at newland, that was one thing and the drawbar hitch I wanted to do but asked and was told no so I havent done it yet. I cant figure out why everyone down there wants to do nothing but expensive power mods to pull and make a fuss over the FREE stuff you can do yourself for pennies to make your truck pull better. I love to pull with blocks in, that makes the truck feel awesome and will keep your rear driveshaft under your truck, that was one thing the #2 man was complaining about I took the blocks out and went to bumpstops and still beat him by 50' most pulls in 04.
If I were him I would have made myself a set of blocks after the first pull, to me that is what it is all about, looking at the winners trucks and trying to improve on what they already have working. If we get the truck fixed and make it to the pull come over and find us in the pits. |
Mark, if you need help with your truck, I will be back in town on friday. Get ahold of me through tim if you want.
Jeff |
Jeff , i just took the truck off the dyno and she's still sick, the new VP44 didnt change the low power reading and were down to 380HP that aint gona cut it at the pull, If I cant get it fixed I do not know if we will go or not. are you going and do you need to use some weights or something?
|
Yes, I will be going, Tim got my billet input and output shafts in the tranny so I will be able to really get it this time. I won't need any weights, I weighed in at 7950 last time. I guess these 3rd gens are heavy.
|
the weight sounds right on, I hope we get to see you there and good luck
|
I hope to make it too. Mark, I hope you guys get your truck figured out. I can't believe Tim hasn't already found a solution. We'll be putting the twins on my truck in two weeks. I'm already saving for my DTT.
Sounds like the Dodge torch will be carried by jemery if you guys can't make it. Can't let those ford boys start winning again. |
I couldnt make it to the dyno tonight but hopfully tommrrow I will make it and try the new ECM, if its fixed well be there if not who knows, just so its a dodge its OK. cant wait till it is 1,2,3 Dodge, and it sounds like its coming.
hope to see you there mike good luck with the twins |
Hope you get it figured out Mark, its looking like we might go. Sure to be a good time if dodge sweeps it [guitar]
