If it is ready to ride that sounds normal. I priced a set for my jeep, with detroits, and disc brakes (I assume that is a disc pinion brake but who knows maybe they make a kit for rockwells) for 4200. That is a lot of money but you figure if you put detriots in the front and rear of a 1 ton and youve got between 1k to 1500 bucks in it. To the point yeah 650s ok you can get em for that all day. Is that a front or rear you are asking about?

there is a guy in hico that sells them for a pretty good price. i have parted out 15 or so duece and a halfs over the years and i just weld up the rears and put a 400 dollar detroit in the front. and i have some brackets made up that mount a samuria disk and caliper for pinion brakes. i run a set on my land cruiser. if you can buy fronts for 650 each that is a good deal right now.

$650 is a great deal if it is a steer axle.......just make sure it doesn't have those terrible Timken style joints....they won't put up with much abuse and you will end having to replace the axle shafts so that you can install u joints. Most of the knuckle seals are torn on the older axles and you can see what joint style is in there if you just cut them open a bit more. IMO, they would have to practically give them away if it had the crappy joints since the cost is large to convert to u joints.

What do you want the 2.5 tons for?

I'm putting dual steering 2.5 ton Rocks under my 01 Ram and each steering axle is priced at $650 each... I feel that is a very good deal for just picking up the phone and telling them to ship them. You can find some cheaper if you look but the convenience is worth a lot to me.
Like it was said above, be sure to get the U joint style Rocks.
