pulling with a nv5600 101 NEED ADVICE!

fried my 1st clutch (5th hook with a kenny's DD installed a year and a half ago) melted the disks to the fly wheel and pressure plate. from start to finish this is what i did. Backed to the sled track offical put the hook on, drove foward to take the slack out (now this is the important part) brought the rpms to about 3000rpms while having the clutch engaged just enough to keep tension on the chain, once she was brought up to 3k let the clutch out rather hard pulled 120ft went to put the clutch in nothing stalled the truck. Upgraded the hydros to HD still no clutch pulled the tranny and found the culprit. NOW I ask you guys where did i go wrong here? Kenny is rebuilding the clutch for me, but was this my fault or the clutches fault? trucks got 3.55s pulled 3rd gear 4 low and i'm pulling with 16x10s on mickey thompsons baja atzs 15lbs front 35lbs rear i think thats everything I'd like some prefessional pointers on what to do and WHAT NOT TO DO thanks guys!

My uncle pulls with about the same set up, he runs 4 low in fifth gear, you might have had too many rpms in too low a gear

I don't think you did anything wrong, maybe try not to heat it up so much. I used to pull in the same gear but it was too low so I use 4th now. I want to try 5th but don't wanna kill my clutch lol

I think all that happened was the disks got too hot and got welded together, same thing happened to me one time when I did a big burnout and all I did was drive with the clutch petal in and punched it a couple times rolling in 2nd gear to break em loose again.

Maybe try not to ride the clutch too much keeping the chain tight at the start so your not slipping it for so long? I just pull ahead until it tightens up then I just hold it with the brake until I get the green flag then I start to ride it. And actually I ride the clutch for quite a ways out of the hole because my truck has a habit of bouncing at the start but I never have any problems now.

I run 20 in the front and 45 in the back. Next weekend i think I might try 15 and 40 for better traction but I find if I run too little in the back I will bounce.
