Alaska Members....................
Next Wednesday night, 20 July, is the summer's last Truck Performance Night at the Palmer Drag Strip. All summer we have had a dismal showing for diesels, sometimes not having enough to have our own class and being forced to run with the gassers.
The gates of the Palmer strip open at 5:00pm for you early birds. Most of us don't get off work until 5:00pm and grab something to eat on the way, so about 6:00 to 6:30 before most of us show up. Depending on how many trucks there are, we will have an open strip for test-n-tune for at least a couple of hours (run as many times as you want), then start the racing. This is bracket racing for a 1st and 2nd place trophy, so you don't have to be fast to win, just consistent.
For those that want to race, or just come out and watch for that matter (it is fun), but dont know where the Palmer strip is, I can meet a group of you anywhere in Anchorage or Eagle River at about 5:30/6:00 and all drive out together. It takes about 30 minutes to get there. Just post and let me know.
If you want to race, but never have before, no fear as there is no experience required and I can run through everything with you that you need to know in about 2 minutes. You will need a DOT approved helmet (snow machine or 4-wheeler helmet is fine) and a long sleeve shirt to slip on. It costs $10 per adult to get into the pits with you and watch (less $$ for kids). It costs $20 to run during the test-n-tune only (no bracket racing) if you just want to see what your truck will do, and it costs $35 to do it all, including the bracket racing events.

Unfortunately, we got rained out. The good news is, they are going to reschedule for August. Check the website schedule sometime next week for the new date: http://www.akracewaypark.com/poster_schedule.htm
I have never seen so many diesels show up for an event, although the Chevy's were a little lacking. Thanks for coming out and hope everyone can make it for the reschedule.

The sponsor is out of town until the 10th of August. We won't know for sure until they update the schedule, but he has said that he wants to reschedule for the 31st of August. More to come. We usually have a blast. Hope you can make it.
Also, there is a test-n-tune next Wednesday, the 3rd of August, that several of us will attend just to hang out and make a few runs if you want to come out. T&T night is $20, run all you want. $10 for spectators.

There is a group of us going to the August 3rd Test-N-Tune Night if anyone is interested. Since your not racing against the clock for consistency, it makes for some good grudge matches, plus, usually lots of Ford Lightenings, Hemis, mustangs, and hopped-up tuner cars, etc., to beat up on. It is usually a real good time. $20 to run all night. Hope to see some of you there..practice on your consistency for the next Truck Night.

Truck Performance Night has been rescheduled (due to the rain out). This was posted on the AK Raceway Park web site:
”The Northern Diesel Performance Truck Series race has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, August 31st. The is the final race in the series. All those racers who came for the originally scheduled truck event on July 20th (which was rained out), & purchased a Tech Slip, should plan to return on August 31st. The Tech Slip already purchased will be honored for this re-scheduled race. Racers will still need to go through the Tech Inspection again, showing drivers license & safety gear. This race should be a lot of fun! We had 18 racers signed up, so there could be some serious competition. And anyone with a truck is welcome to come join in the fun. This will be the final Wednesday night race of the 2005 season. The Pit Gate opens at 5:00pm, test & tune runs from 6 - 8, with competition beginning at 8:00pm. Entry fees are: Test & Tune onfiltered= $25, Test & Tune & Truck Competition = $35, Spectators = $10. "
