2.5 Turbo's???
What turbos have the 2.5 Inducer for pulling? I want to run this class but Im havin' a hard time findong this info on Turbos. I guess I really need to know what the best 2.5 Turbo is and what everyone else is running?
Thanks, Josh |
I would say the best 2.5 turbo would be Industrial Injection's silver 64. If ITPA or DHRA come out with that class instead of a 2.6 that is the one I am going to use.

I finally found an old post with some of this info but the turbos are most likely outdated. Anyway heres the brekdown from what I can tell...
62=2.44in 64=2.52in So I guess we can run anything with a 64mm or smaller inducer! |
An out of the box 64mm turbo will not meet the 2.5 rule most of the time becuase the 64 of a turbo is the inducer wheel size not the size of the actual compressor inducer which is what is measured at the pulls.
|
Figure 25.4 mm per inch would be 63.5 mm.
|
What Turbos meet these specs? You guys should know, you're running them! Im new to pulling and trying to find a set-up to start with and work from there!

JIT you may want to build a truck and keep a stock turbo for a while until you start winning the stock turbo class. There is a lot to do in set up and driving that should come first. Pull next year in the stock class, then step up to the next class. Just my opinon though.

a 62-14 would be a good charger to run. Most 64mm chargers have a larger inducer on the housing and will get you thrown out.
PM me if ya have any more questions. ive got a lil experience with the 2.5 class. Wes |

dumb question but I haven't been into pulling. What's the reason for having these classes ? I know you can go from stock to pro but, are they expecting you to only have so much power by the size turbo you're running ? In other words, by having a 2.5mm does tell who ever is checking your hp will be between X and X ?

The classes help even the field out, so the guy with a stock turbo isn't competing with the guy with a SPS66.

Thanks... I figured that. It seems to me though that if you say, run in the 2.5 class.... there could be a big variance in the hp all the trucks in that class have. I just didn't understand how fields are evened out just on the size of the compressor. Lots of other things could be helping to create the hp. |
