Thinking of moving

Anybody know much about the grand junction area? My finaces family is there and I dont like mine anymore and we both hate Ohio so we are thinking of moving about the 1st of may. Tell me all yall know if anything!!

I have roots in heavy equipment and farming, so I will be needing a job obviously, and she is a hell of a customer service rep. We have 2 dogs and will be looking to rent an apartment or cheap house hopefully with a garage so I can still work on the trucks.

GJ is not to bad. Smaller city with enough to do so you are not bored. If you like the small town there are quite a few around. Montrose, Delta, Hotchkiss, etc. If you dont like the idea of working your but off in the oil patch there are coal mines around that pay well and have a better work schedule. If you like to travel and fly alot GJ is far from everywhere. Denver and Salt Lake are the closest big airports both about 5-6 hrs. If you like pro sports- 5 hrs away. The economy will stay good as long as the oil field keep getting permits to drill and there will be a coal mine opening up just outside of GJ.

With everything they said.... good luck finding cheap rent. I'm on the other side an hour north of Denver but have family in GJ and my girlfriends family is over there too. Housing and rent is opposite of the trend you are hearing in media about the rest of the nation. Pretty brown, it's a lot greener on the eastern side.

I like that area. A lot of unspoiled land and not too many people. The town is not bustling overpopulated businessman-type crowd, looked like more down to earth folks. I would move there but the job is here...

Yea, Juction is nice, we like to run down there about every month.A lot more choices than here, and lower prices too. I think I could live there.

Buddy of mine lives down by Montrose (Olathe), seems to be a nice area. When I go to visit soon, I might even look around some and see what kind of work is available, hopefully something for my hotshot opeartion.

Don't know if it's too late to help, but I grew up in the G.J. area and it's a great place with a lot of opportunities for work and entertainment. great climate.
