I tried blocking my wastegate on my KW, it went from a max of 26 lbs of boost up to 34 and pulls like a freight train, although it pulled really well before.
Is that a safe level for the factory turbo or should I hook t back up again?

Can't recall a safe level for the factory turbo, but the stock head gasket will let loose just below 62 psi. Don't ask.
I know a couple guys who have played with trim codes for more jam, with a stock turbo, and been quite satisfied. Once you start to go big though, an aftermarket spinner is more than just a good idea.

honestly I was kind of doing it as an experiment, I seem to get out pulled by other pre emission 550 cats, so I was just seeing how much I could gain for a day or 3, but the longest pull I have had it on is one mile before turning another corner hauling silage, tons and tons of stop and go driving, soft fields weighing 85000 lbs give or take a bit.
I'm going to put it back before I go hauling cattle for the fall at 102000 lbs.....I really don't want anything to go BOOM haha
good to know that the head gasket is that tough though

More boost=less EGT. From what I have seen you can fuel and boost to 40 psi all day long. Your right foot and a good EGT gauge are essential. Also keep a couple boost boots, (CAC tube boots) and clamps with you. They will blow and do so loudly.

I had a boot blow off a few years ago, scared the crap out of me
I'm going to have to throw a new pyro at the ole girl anyway, its been a wee bit out to lunch this summer, it will tell me that it will have a 1200 deg exh temp when just rolling down the road...that was before I blocked the wastegate, not sure what happened to cause that, something internal let go I'm assuming, or I spilt coffee on it
40 psi.....wow, my boost gauge doesn't even register past 35, how well do the factory turbos take that much "love"?
