Boost Pressure ? 8.3 Pusher RV MH
Anybody know what the max and normal boost pressures should be on a 96 p-pumped 300 hp tuned 8.3 hx-40 turbo all stock right now in a rear pusher motor home. Turbo is free and no end play also good working waste gate (maybe too good ? ) seemed to take a fair amount of air pressure to trip it but i did not have a gauge on it.
The unit is a 36' fore travel and weighs around 25-29k .
I checked it and found max at 14psi, around 7 @1600 rpm on flat ground under normal load and 9-10 when working it a little.
Seems to run good but likes to smoke some black a little more that i would like to see under light to medium load rolling down the road.
Full load from a take off is good just a light haze.
90k on the unit and fuel mileage is is good rolls down the road nice but if it were mine i would want a little more power out of it.
Thoughts and ideas ??????

Look for boost leaks. Normal boost under full load is right around 25- 28 psi. Also check for air flow restrictions, like air filter, mouse nests in the air pick up area, etc.

I thought it was low myself and i did not see any leaks but i thought i would find out first what the proper amount of boost should be on it.
The air cleaner was just changed.
Thanks for the input.
