I've heard similar to that. I knew a Cat mechanic who said he could get into the computer of the truck I was driving at the time, and make it do anything we wanted but get fuel mileage, it was going to need new rear gears to do that. His opinion was that if they could have built a decent top end for it, the C15 would have easily been the best motor out there.

I have heard that part of the deal with Navistar building trucks for Cat was that Cat will be supplying C15 bottom ends to Navistar, who will be building the heads and finishing the motors out for highway use.

I have a customer that has a 1500 hp. 3412E for sale.... We have two 3412PEEC in the back yard that are 1275 hp mechanicals... Think you could get the hood closed??
