Decent Cummins mechanic in Anchorage?

I have a friend with an 03 that he uses for work and it gets used pretty hard. He as gotten the run around from Cummins and Anchorage Chrysler Dodge over the years with several different problems. Unfortunately, I am usually too busy to get it fixed and back on the road in a short period of time. Anyone have a recommendation for a decent mechanic in Anchorage that he could call on?

So far I haven't had much luck with mechanics around here. They either do a crappy job or don't do what you want them to do.

I've talked to the Diesel Dr. in Wasilla, and he seems like he's got his act together. I've also heard good things about Roks Diesel, but haven't spoken with them personally. As far as Anchorage, Lithia has fixed mine under warranty, but I'll never go there voluntarily because it's taken them two times for each repair to finally get it right...

Thanks for the recommendations. I guess worse case he could take it to the valley. I was hoping that maybe there was someone here in town I had not heard of that did good work. Funny a town this size doesn't have a trustworthy shop. Sure glad for this site, without it I would be looking too.

Depends on who you talked to there. The old man I talked to the first time loved 1st gens and did a good job for me. Went back later and there was a new kid that practically threw me out the door. Haven't been back.

I believe that advance diesel 1025 Orca St # S7 Anchorage, AK 99501
(907) 278-1999 behind Merrill Field does some work. I haven't ever had my truck worked on there but when I lived up there I never had a bad experience with their service and Jeff always went out of his way to offer helpful advice.

Unfortunately I've not had any luck with them either. Being the [U][I]only[I][U] Bosch Dealer in town, they can pick and choose their jobs.

Thanks for the recommendation bearvalley, I am glad you had a good experience there. Unfortunately I was treated so poorly at Advanced diesel that I will never darken their door again nor suggest anyone go there. I would rather buy locally but It is painfully obvious that he has a monopoly. Sure glad for the internet and next day shipping.
