Tranny cooler.

Well Ft mac has really **** kicked my truck, last week heater fan went, I half to punch on the outer shell under the dash on the passenger side to get the fan to kick in. Got a new fan for free from this 3rd party contracter out on my rig, just waiting for a nice day to pull it out. Now my tranny cooler has sprung a small leak at the top passenger side. It only leaks in the morning after i drive 25 km at 110kmh. but does not leak on the drive home, i only had to add 1L so far, question is will this last me untill the 21st when i get shut down till x-mas. Im carrying extra oil with me in the truck just incase. Today i used some exhaust crack sealer for a temporary fix. Ran most of the day with no leaks, any input???

Chad...

You could bypass it if it really starts to leak and you are out on a job....

Do you have a transmission temp gauge to keep an eye on things? Especially if you bypass the cooler....

I have one on my Pmt, but who really knows if that is totally acurate eh! It has been reading around 158 to 170f for the last few days. Which is pretty normal for my truck

You have extra tranny fluid? I would just keep topping up the fluid until you get a place to repair. Of course if its just peeing out, you'll have to fix it. Its not that hard of fix, its just not something you want to do outside at -20deg's C

I wont want much for it,, I really dont even know what they are worth, I am just heading home, if you would like to stop out. First entrance in Gregoire Lake Estates, #23 House is on an angle on the lot, hard to miss

Right now -20 is warm seeing how it has been -53 for the last 5 days up here. I should be good but would be nice to have a replacement if it blows up on my 10 hr drive in a couple of days.

The factory cooler has a pretty high failure rate.. dealer wants near 300$ for them, you can get a "smaller" aftermarket one, I have one on my truck (because dealer had no stock ) A&C keeps them in stock IIRC they were around 125$???
A friend of mine, with an 05 (courior as well) is on this 3rd factory cooler, he has 300,000kms on the clock.
another courior has an 03, his was replaced last yr, with the "smaller" after market cooler. his truck is around the 250,000km mark..

just food for thought
