Stupid question???

Hey guys how's everyone doing?

Ok the question is as follows: Would a fuel filter hinder the power and performance of your truck if clogged up? Im thinking yeah but since i pulled my chip my truck has been real sluggish, and my tranny is acting up. First gear seems to take alot of rpm to shift into second. Then second gear seems really weak when it first shifts.

Another question is, would my aurora 3000 be a little too big to be running on my truck while her being stock???

Sorry for the dumb questions... I should know these answers but im drawing a blank.. Thanks

Chad..

That turbo would be fine though for driving without a chip on

Yeah, but how do i explain my tranny acting like it does? It shifts through the rest of the gears ok. but first takes a bit to shift into second.

I think the transmission issue you describe is really common. My transmission behaves the same way, so I've looked into it a bit. It often doesn't go out of first until I let off the accelerator.

But odd that it's happening since you took the programming off?? Although maybe it makes sense - my understanding is that tuners change the "stock" shift points by mucking about with the inputs related to engine speed and engine load.

I know I haven't had the bands adjusted, although others have said that didn't help anyways. Changing governor pressure solenoid and governor pressure sensor also reportedly doesn't help, although these do apparently help with 1-2 shift hunting problem. Some claim that switching to full synthetic helps although I have my doubts about that. I'm wondering if it could be an internal leak in the torque converter lockup clutch??

I'm hoping the DTT parts and rebuild will make the problem go away - until then I will just live with it...let us know if you find out what it is.

I have adjusted the bands, changed out the solenoid and sensor, put synthetic oil in. So your theory is correct, it didnt help. Im trying to find another chip to see if maybe it did change the shift points on the truck. It started doing it the day of removing my programmer. Im in okotoks for a month or so working, the bad thing is i dont get in till after 7 most nights. so ofcourse nothing is open, except yesterday but it was sunday. It always seems to work out that way. Early day on sunday lol. Im hoping i can find a programmer to see if it acts the same way or improves. Till then im going to have to live with it aswell. maybe we can start a club " First gear issue club" lol Ill letcha ya know when i find a chip and test it out.

I unfortunately cant speak from a posistion of knowledge on this, as my 48 is the older style with a tv cable. But are the newer ones like on your truck possible a learning tranny, such as the allison in my chevy? I know that my chev shifts like crap depending on what tune I have in it, and how long since I did the tune. For the first little while after I put a tune in, it will shift like a pOS

Dont know if that will help or not

Ill look into that, but im certain mine has a cable too. I had broke it one day and had to shift it from under the truck just to get it to the dealer. They fixed the cable and it was fine since then. But when i had my ats parts installed into my tranny, the installer told me the tranny would run like crap untill it learned the new shifts points. Its hard to say really, i aint no tranny mech. Ill probably run it like this till tuesday when i get paid. Then try another chip if possible. It's deffinatly not shifting as hard as it did the first couple of days. We will see

that cable is different than a tv cable. that is just the shifter cable. The newer trucks are whats called "shift by wire" so that is why I am thinking it needs to learn

Do you need to add a resistor to the PCM for the extra line pressure? Are you getting the weak 2nd gear starts? You getting all the gear engaging?

Second gear is deffinatly weak, like as soon as it shifts into second i have little to no power. Also when on highway i got to let off throttle to let her shift into 3rd and 4th. Very strange, i really got to make sure no one is coming when i turn onto the highway or ill get slaughtered from behind. That sounded kinda fruity lol.
