Stroke???

Hey every one, i had an expirence last night like no other ive ever had in my life. I had walked up stairs to the garage and my body went numb, all muscles went tight and i dropped to the floor like i got knocked out by a 300lb boxer. i struggled to climb in the house and up two flights of stairs, body was freezing to the touch, but to me i felt like i was burning up. I couldnt speak or breath, heart was pounding a mile a minute. I honestly thought i was gonna die, after about a 1/2 hr i started to feel better." which felt like 5 hrs of my life". Basically i really freaked myself out and ofcoarse scared the wife to death. Got a docters appt tomorrow night so i hope it wasent what i think it was. Im thinking it was a lill stroke, it does run in the fam. Well i just needed to vent and share my scary yet bring life to pespective moment with my fellow truck lovers. Im doing fine now but a lill shaken. There is no need to respond i, like i said just needed to vent. Thanks every one for your time.......

wow glad your ok on this end of it

if it was. and the doctor knows it. they'll pull your licence for a period of time and put you on some medication. to counter act it. a friends wife has that petite mal seizures. but the meds keep it in check.

I'm no doctor now, but thats exactly how it goes for my buds wife. if she has one, she can't drive for time, and if shes siesure free in that time she starts driving again.

Hope thats its nothing but a panic attack though. keep us posted brother.

hope you are OK!!! Better its anxiety attacks than a stroke. I had a couple of anxiety attacks in my 20s and I thought I was a gonner - but they are pretty harmless. Turns out your brain can do some weird, powerful stuff to your body when you least expect it. All the best...

Hope your feeling better---- Wife gave me the scare of a lifetime last month when she had blood clot travel from her leg and lodge in her lung----thought she was having a stroke------ 911/ambulance/emergency/3 days in ICU and now constant monitoring of her blood for 6 months,40% fatality rate.Quite the scare/we are blessed. We had to cancel a Carribean cruise in April cause of the flight risk with blood clot so in August we drive to Vancouver and head out on a Alaskin voyage.Doctor said if the same thing happened to me i most likely would of died because i'm a guy-----shrug things off/keep working, thinking it will go away/avoid the doctors/hospital etc.Take care. So here's my update. Went to docter, told him what happened and he says. "Do u feel anxious, has this happened before". Then says "you'll be fine lets do blood work", so today im off to do blood work. Then who knows, i guess ill have to wait for the test to come back. He really didnt seem to care all that much, oh well i think ill be fine. We will c.

Keep us updated....Very common in todays world with people having panic attacks...How much coffee do you drink??I had to quit drinking regular coffee and had to go with de-cafe,then on top of that I smoke and the heart feels like its going to explode...Never heard of these panic attacks 30 years ago.

Well i only have one coffee in the day but only when im going to work. I do smoke too, but i drink 2 energy drinks a day sometimes 3. They said these were probibly a likely cause but they are still uncertain till the blood tests results come in. Some time tomorrow ill get the call anyway. Ill keep ya posted.

sounds to me like an anxiety attack - but there is no definitive diagnosis until the blood work comes back. hopefully that is all it is . . . have you ever heard of TIA's? (transient ischemic attack, ie. very small stroke with little to no permanent damage)

dweiler - did your wife have a pulmonary embolism? how is she now? also, did the docs say what may have caused the clot to form - blood disorder, or extended periods of inactivity maybe, how about any recent physical trauma or surgery?

YES thats it,on blood thinner now to regulate her blood(thinner viscosity maybe a 0W-40 now)for six months, she had one big clot that was broken down by the docs into 4 small ones from what the CT scan showed.CAUSE-----UM,birth control pill for 13 years most likely as we have no kids----YET,maybe soonOOPPPS,i guess a lady should give her body a rest from them every 5 or so years---#1 side effect is that. All is OK now but she has to stay active(which she does,on her feet all day) and long car rides we have to stop for a walkabout every few hours and no flying for 6 month or so.PS----KUDOS/BIG THANK YOU to the Calgary EMS/ Emergency/ICU/staff at the Foothills---wonderful/caring people in you time of need.David/Heather.
