So throw some VW 1.6 idi tech at me........

So since I bought my little Jetta banger earlier this year. I hear that 200hp is some magic number for the 4 popper diesels.

so what'll it take.

I'm thinking about buying one of those Isky cutters that Swamp donkey cut his block with. and do every engine I have. I wonder what i could use for headstuds in it/

Does anyone know who does emd'ing of injector tips. or even extrude honing?

and the intake manifold isn't good enough for sure.

the K24 isn't near big enough.

ya I kind of don't want to get hung up in VW frame of mind. I want to take what I know about diesels. and what "truck guys" are doing to make power. and put it on the 1.6l

I'm just not so sure the 1.6 rods are up to it?!?!

might have to check that out. before doing anything.

They are cheap compared to what we play with plus there are only four lol .
I had a 1993 that was killer and still got silly fuel mileage . The wife would roll coal everywhere I wish we still had it with the evolution in turbos now. She blew it up . White Vw that roll coal not the cleanest car lol

I believe its pretty easy to bend the rods with just a few hp over stock.

How do you like that car Luke? Ive been thinking about getting a 2001-2003 but have been scared off a couple of times mainly because its a VW...and from a few people as well..

well I like mine. for what it is. my mother rocks an '06 jetta tdi.

I've heard the '99-'00 era jettas had wiring issues. I really don't know that much about them to be honest.

but with how cheap everything is for mine a far as parts go, even go fast parts. man its hard not to mess with it. you know compared to cummins stuff and BBC stuff.

Dr evil You really have to be careful of those years ...poor maintenance and they needed spin down which the yuppys didn't do they had a coking problem with the turbos which is still cheap compared to what the cummins crew deal with

Luke there is a girl on comp d by the name of sarah brendt (im not sure of the spelling) she has gotten hers real deep in the 15's now, maybe even 14's now... I know that zach hamilton was fooling with cams for the tdi also. I read a magazine article where a fellow was over 400 hp with his.. but custom everything.. injectors are cheap and very easy to change on them too, maybe 45 mins. There are all kinds of electronics help for them too...

Dr, I wouldnt be scared of one in those years... a friend of mine has one, he bought it with 200k on it , and then started to hot rod it,, no problems, fun little car

Depending on the year of it 200hp can be a pretty big number. I have a 93 and to get 200hp cost me two motors. I did finally get it figured out, but I have since turned it right back down to 100hp. The newer TDIs can get there, but it is still going to cost you some money to get there. We were selling the VA chips and nozzles. The two of them combined would give you about an additional 40-45hp and 100ftlbs of torque.
