Be safe Folks

Rain has let up here for now but still more coming apparently

The City of Calgary has order mandatory evacuations from six communities along the Elbow River. Mission, Elbow Park, Stanley Park, Roxboro, Rideau and Discovery ridge are being evacuated immediately.
Residents should leave work, gather essentials from home and find shelter with friends, family or at reception centres set up at Southland Leisure Centre and Acadia Recreation Complex.

Dave I was here in 2005 and I was seeing exposed Pipelines in rivers but never the power of this.

A supervisor on a pipeline job in canmore said the boulders were almost the size of VW Bugs rolling by

A sour gas pipeline in Turner Valley got split earlier today!!

The trancanada #1 hiway heading west at canmore is pretty much gone. Any of you guys watch the news, lots of city by the bow river has been flooded.

I had my basement flooded from the last rain dump we had about a month ago. I went out and bought two new 3/4HP sump pumps[coffee][laugh] This time, no basement flooding.[coffee]

Best of luck everyone.[coffee]

Sundre

Homestead 06-21-2013 07:38 PM

Sundre is more than wet but it looks like the river has dropped slightly but there is a lot more rain on the horizon, it's not over yet.

Stampede grounds are a mess also....The saddle dome has serveral feet of water in it..

It's going to be rough for the workers to get the stampede grounds fixed up for the 2013 Stampede starting in two weeks..

Brolaw is a forman in the Victoria park transit operations----all buses were evacuated to the 32Ave barns, all chemicals/fluids loaded on buses and taken out.The workers tools/parts are in the sealed bus paint booth, entire barn is under 4 feet of water.I feel for my customers along Bowness/Montgomery/Bridgeland---pretty much submerged, only about 20% of my route is in those area's, the rest is all north/northwest on higher ground----we will see what Cochrane looks like tomorrow.Cheers DW

Hope the resources go where they are truly needed right now, not the Stampede. Lots of people will be in need of real help in the next few weeks.

My thoughts go out to those affected, especially people who lost a loved one.

I gotta say I agree with you, there are more important things than people recreational hobbies right now! peoples lives and livelihoods are the big cleanup priorities for the foreseeable future
