Rims
Would like to get some new rims for the truck, after all Valentines day is coming up. Can anybody recomend a good source somewhere in the Calgary area? Thank you, ksi.
|
man i would love to tell you of a place in calgary if they was one ,,,, i haven't found one that wasn't trying to rip you off ...
|
I would buy them from tirerack.com, and have them sent to a freight forwarding location in Montana. Drive down, install them and come back. Its cheaper, than going locally. You can get entire wheels from tirerack for nearly the same money as just buying the rims here. Its up to you if you pay the GST at the border[laugh]. I would just hide the old tires, during the crossing.[laugh] Typically border crossing dude will never get out of the booth, unless your doing something commerical. Go when its cold out, or cross late at night or early morning, helps as well.
I get checked each time, but I have commerical plates. The joys of having a USA work permit, they nit pick you for everything. |
I don't know if they will fit but i know off a Brand new set of eagle rims with brand new rubber on them the only catch is they came off a Duramax. Due to the Restrictions on the forum just pm me if you want any info or better just e mail direct roxxxATshawcable.com

I got my rims and tires from Stripe Tech, fairly decent price, IMO, wouldn't complain.

Speaking of rims guys, please keep a look out for a nice set of fairly light 16" rims for my truck need to be 10" wide. I am looking to put some slicks on my truck at some point this year. Found the tires, but need the rims to go with them

What are you doing with your brake situation, with the big rotors that come factory on your rig?
|
Run the 2nd gen rotors and brakes/calipers. No triming required. I bet there will be lots of guys will to swap brakes with you Kev. To find 16in rims cheap is easy, to find a light 16in isn't easy, but can be done. Throw in the 10in wide, I bet your buying new rims buddy. Mine are 16X8, and aren't lite.[laugh]
|
Ive been doing some research on this. Looks like all you need to do is a little trimming on the rears, and change the backing plate on the front with the backing plate off of an 02
|
Kev, you calling the backplate, the piece of tin thats inbetween the hub and spindle? Thats just to protect the inside of the rotor from road trash, so you could get away without it.
I thought that the caliper would interfere with the rim? |
supposedly not on the fronts,,, that is what I have been learning, only on the backs

I was quoted somewhere in the 400dollar range to have tires shipped from tirerack once....without rims. Tireracks rim selection is terrible-and sizing for trucks is limited imho. |
****, had to be ten inches wide, haha, I've got a set of 16x8 eagle alloys just kicking around, haha.
|
I'd look into that 16 quite a bit more, I have never heard that. I know of only one guy running 16.5 and he said he had to physically do some grinding to get them to fit.
