Replace the lift pump

I'm looking at replacing the lift pump in my truck and wondering if there is a reason to choose one brand over another? I just need the pump (not filter) and like long warranties. I feel the filter setup I'm running is fine. Might upgrade fuel line diameter at the same time though.

Thoughts and recommendations?

What are you running for a fuel filter?

I believe 2 micro filtering is necessary with the third gen injector issues.

If you ask me the more filtration you have the better.

In the tag line, but Baldwin 5 micron in the factory location then cat 2 micron before the pump.

Have the housing etc. for the baldwin water separator but not installed yet. Will install it with the new pump. Can't remember if it is a pre or post pump unit.

I have run many different units, but totally recommend the airdog.. much better put together kit, everything you could possibly need is in the box, and easy plug and play... just the way it is supposed to be

If possible locate all of your filters after the lift pump rather than before the LP. I know the FASS doesnt like pre pump restriction and I suspect the same for the AD.

Currently, I think the best standalone pump is the Air Dog Raptor.

Built-in adjustable regulator & built in bypass so no return line is needed.
Makes for an easy install. Plus you don't have the fuel filters hanging under the truck.

Glacier Diesel in Spokane is excellent to deal with too..

I have the Raptor, installed fuel filters of my choice that I can get anywhere there is a repair shop or truck stop. 2 buddies installed airdog, filters are very small & even harder to get. Unless they changed something in the last yr or so. There not stocked by Cummins/fleetguard/Freightliner dealers in Alberta. Took local Cummins dealer around a week to get the odd ball filters the airdogs use. Yes spares can be stocked by customer, but sometimes people dont forward think. Thats why I vote for the Raptor.

Little off topic but how do you like your Ultra Rims---been eying those for a while in Chrome.Only problem is rotation on a dually.DW

There are internet rumors out there (they may be true), that they need to be rebuilt frequently. Doesn't really apply to some of us dually owners, that only see that kind of mileage every 4 years...

Nice kit...better then that other one. I have stepped away from the full kit to the Raptor and my own filtration. I did not like the looks of the rust in the water filter/screen on two trucks that we dissected their filters on.

Ditto on the Raptor. I get mine through Lary here on DTR and shipped to the Fortuna bar...makes for a good road trip. LOL

Hard to say, if its a body, might be an electronic issue. Thats why bosch has a new style injector available.
