Red Cab lights(legal or not)

Is it legal to run red cab lights in Canada??I got some of Joe red lens paint and wanted to change my cab lights from orange to red..

you could get clear lenses and put in red bulbs too . . .

i don't know the answer to your question . . . maybe try giving DOT a call if no one has a clear answer.

I believe red and blue are off limits since they are emergency vehicle colours.

I can't remember how it written. there are pretty clear guidelines for lighting though. when I can get my cvip book from my toolbox at work I can tell you what it says for commercial vehicles at least.

actually I found it in the highway traffic safety act. pretty much says amber on the fronts and reds on the rear.

prescribed by the regulations.
(4) Nothing in this section requires a truck tractor to be equipped
with rear clearance lamps.
(5) Notwithstanding subsection (2), the front clearance lamps on a
truck tractor may be located so that they indicate the width of the
cab.
(6) A boat trailer less than 6 metres in overall length, including the
tongue, is deemed to comply with subsections (1) and (2) if it is
equipped with a clearance lamp on each side of the trailer that
emits an amber light to the front and a red light to the rear and is
located so that it indicates the overall width of the boat and trailer.

I found the info I needed...I went to the source....It is ilegal to have red cab lights including blue lights anywhere on the front of the vehicle.The police officer told me that amber and clear cab lights are ok...

You should just do a darkish tint on them dave, give'r a stealth look, I think it'd be awesome.

If Im not mistaken, someone like Jetco makes them - you dont have to get the Recon junk.

Dark would look way better, as your truck is very dark. Get the tinted ones, when you turn them on there amber.

Youre right - smoked clears with amber bulbs would look good too.

Thats a good idea...Have to do some pricing around here to see who sells the jetco cab lights....Its too bad,but about 4 months ago,I could of got them at Titan Truck on sale.....I went there today and they either moved or shut the doors...No forwarding phone number when I called..

Im pretty sure Acklands and maybe Gregg Distributers carry them. Possibly Freightliner or Stalh Peterbuilt as well. You might have to smoke the lenses yourself - theres a special paint that you buy. And maybe some LED bulbs???

Dave, you changing up stuff on the truck? Its gonna look good buddy. How much work is it to put the clearance lights on a truck that doesn't have them originally?

I'm going to LMC later next week, I can pick-up a few items for people if they want. Free shipping. I'm grabbing new front lights/fogs, carpet and hopefully I can squeeze a cowling hood in somewhere. My headlights have been pretty badly beat up from rocks. I will just have a little extra room left over. I think it will be cool so to go hang out at the parts counter at LMC. knowing my luck, I wont get a chance to go. Its about 5hrs from the plant that I'm working at and its kinda on the way home. I put 3500 km on the truck in the last three days.[laugh] I'm starting to feel like a long hauler trucker.

I have been thinking also of putting on a cowl hood on my truck...

Trying to get rid of all the light and shine items of the truck..I don't thing it hard to install cab lights on a truck that didn't have them....I have read some where,that the holes are already per drilled on all the inside roof panel..
