I had them when i was young And didn't realize how hard they had become to find ! my next one will be a pro street low rider

This one took me 7 months of pleading begging and groveling to buy (nope no shame LOLOLOL) I found s some heavy axles and now once weather gets a bit better and the skating rink i call a driveway is gone I will tear it down and rebuild it . :)

Its a little 350 .... I am looking into a Dart small block 427 or a new crate motor 383 / 450 HP

ID go BB vs 383. You can build more power in the BB. JMHO

In the past I have had both small and big block 4x4's in these years I always found i had more issues with the big blocks. granted i am still thinking about the Dart small block 427 mind you 424 450 crank hp crate motor i think is plenty for how small these trucks really are.

plus small block has better weight distribution

I am very familiar with 67-72 Chev/GMC trucks as I went thru 3 in high school (mid 1980's) . All 2wd long box, all manual trans and lowered.

My neighbour restored a '68 Chev 1/2 ton while I was growing up.
I was hooked and bought a '69 1/2 ton 2wd LB Chevy when I was 14! Towed it home, in-line 6 cylinder out and 350 SB in by the time I was 15.

Sold that one and bought a 72 GMC 2wd 1/2 ton. Fixed it up and sold it and bought a '68 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd LB also.
Did a teenage ground up resto on that one. Had it for 2 years, never made it out of primer, was stolen and destroyed when I was 18....

My Dad was a Ford guy and was not happy with my GM trucks but they are outstanding trucks. Much better than the '73 and up GM rust buckets, and the Ford trucks of that generation.

Yours is a 1/2 ton short box 4x4. Very cool configuration but I don't think those trucks were ever available in short box 4x4. Not a big deal 44 years later and dont' quote me on that.

Like for everything these days, there are tons of forums for guys passionate about these trucks.

A modern GM LSx V8 with fuel injection with a modern 6 speed manual trans would be my choice but big $$$$$..

One of my favorite vehicles. Have always wanted to get one and do it up but not enough space, time, skill or money for that matter. My late father in laws girlfriend had a 71 that had been her dads that he had bought new and was used for little more than just driving it around their ranch. It only had 28000 original miles on it and was in pristine condition. I had offered to buy it a couple times but she new exactly what she had and wouldn't sell. Just six months ago her daughters car broke down and she was letting her use it and she totaled it.

Darn Hope the Girl was okay Real shame about the truck too

She was ok obviously beaten and shaken up some only real injury was a broken wrist, fortunately she was wearing her seatbelt, she was lucky in that was all that happened to her. Those oldies while stout don't fold up real well and tend to transfer the impact to the occupants.
