which manifold for twins
Im starting my search for a used manifold for the twins I will be putting on my truck. My question is, what manifold will I need? Is it a 24valve manifold, or a 12v manifold?
Thanks kevin |
A 3 piece 24V manifold.

I would get a larger foot T03 ATS. That way you can put a larger secondary turbo on your truck. I would think that you would need a 24v manifold, as the exhaust ports are different between the 12v and 24v.
Isn't BD twins coming with a exhaust manifold? Have they gave you any info on which turbo(s) your getting? It should be a sweet set-up buddy. |
Im not going with the BD twins anymore,, it turns out that they just arent big enough for my requirements. I am pretty sure that I am going to go with a set from Engineered Diesel. I am going to go with a HTT 66 over a S484 w/race cover, 2 external gates. Also going to put on a progressive Nitrous controller

Which gates are they putting on it? You should take pics for you to see what the pro's do? What pressure they using on the gates? When are you plan on hitting it with NOS. Cool man. I want to see the numbers you put up... I'm going stock for the next month or two. I want to keep ahead of Fred on mileage. I need a truck to play with, it would be fun to try stuff.[duhhh]

I am going to run a progressive controller for the nos,, so it will hit as soon as I am at aroun 5lbs of bost. The gates are 50mm ones, The ED ones are supposedly one of the best on the market. I will probably cut off the top turbo around 25 to 35 psi,, and the bottom turbo at around 90 to 100 psi

You're getting adjustable controllers on the gates? I might one day have one inside my truck so I can adjust as I drive. How you piping in the gates on the secondary? I assume that the 25 to 30 psi is differential pressure across the secondary? You might want to limit the primary earlier, but that might be a seat of the pant trail and error. With inlet pressure on the secondary at 100 psi, and you try a 1 to 1.1 pressure ratio, you'll have 200 psi. I'm sure your drive pressures will spike. I would run 30 to 50 psi on the primary and load up the secondary more. Most turbos aren't that efficent on the bottom end of the wheel curve. The trick is two get both turbos into the sweet spot. Still beats going stock. I want to pull my fifth wheel trailer this year some. Kinda limits my playing until the fall. Might build up a motor so I can play this fall.[coffee]

yeah,, I will have to do the trial and error stuff,, see what we can figure out
