injector testing

I'm wondering if there is a company which can do injector testing in the Edmonton area. I've got 6 I've pulled out, and I'd like to see how many I need to replace. When I do, I'd of course like to get them all matched...

Thanks

Gcl . GCL. Apparently DTR doesn't like capitalized acronyms.

Thanks Tate...

I believe they quoted my around $12 per injector to test

Common rail injectors are more, I believe around $50 to get tested.

I missed the cr injectors. My quote was for 370's

If I recall, Armor Inc in Red Deer does common rail injector testing.
They would be my 1st call if I had injector issues & they are also a DDP dealer.

Reputable US places would be to deal directly with DDP in Spokane or F1 Diesel which I think is also in Washington state.

Don is in Texas, but Source Automotive is in Oregan, and Bob Wagner (the two bigger F1 dealers) is in Washington.

The injectors tested NOT GOOD, so... I will probably be sending them to get rebuilt by F1 with 40's. Tate has already recommended a couple of names... Performance Diesel Warehouse (found off F1's website) is quoting $2300 for a total rebuild and new nozzles. I'll check the ones Tate has suggested too. Frankly, that price is way, way better than prices locally for rebuilt (by whoever). Also, Alligator Performance (sponsor here) has a fair price for stock new injectors - compared to what I've found in this area.

Hey Tate - what company is Bob Wagner?

Doesn't have F1 pictures on his site, but contact him anyway. He's good to deal with. PDW used to be good. I haven't dealt with them since Doug sold it. Could also look at TRE diesel, Tim Barber runs that one. Could talk to Exergy as well. They seem to be the premier injector place now.

Hello Mike

That was my concern - rebuilt compared to new. I was under the impression that the F1 rebuilds were true rebuilds and comparable to new...

It must be the Scot in me, but I figure the injectors for these trucks are just too expensive, especially since they are a wear component.

Hate to say this but the price on injectors is only the small part of the big picture. Engine melt downs are even more $$$. Don't know were you are at with your engine build-up, but I found a decent place to buy engine kits for our engines at. The pistons aren't Mahle, but Federal Mogal, rings are prefect circle. Pistons are around $125 a hole vs. cummins $300, plus $36 wrist pin.

I remember the days when people hated 24VP trucks just cause of the VP failing. At least when a VP fails you don't lose an engine, just saying.[laugh]

Hello Mike

I'm on hold on the build until at least December due to work and family commitments. The joys of working in a camp... I'm also waiting on that other engine that is coming to see the condition of it's block and head. The good news is I should have enough parts to start another build using time to spread out the pain (read SWMBO) as I build. Injectors though, I will definitely need, so sourcing them is a project I can be doing (and have been doing). I find the conflicting sources of information... entertaining... and it takes a bit of sorting to come up with your own decision.

Once the 04 is on the road and I sell the 06 though, I'll be looking for another project or truck. Starting to lean back towards the 12V...

I agree with Mike!!!!!!!!!!! Buy new Bosche injectors and stay away from Remans, trust me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

GCL flow tested my injectors three months ago at a cost of just over $200. After reading this post I'm starting to regret ordering Reman Injectors for my truck.

Are they really that bad? I don't understand how they could really screw up the engine? Running it lean? Rich? [duhhh] Mike or someone pls explain!!!
