Ya the newer stuff gets better fuel mileage, once you fix the emission stuff. Just wait till you break any of these new truck. Just painful to even think about it.

Hard to beat a good running 12V, you can usually fix it on the side of the road with the simplest of tools. The new stuff, you need scan tools and programmers to find out whats going on.

The electronic stuff just doesn't last like the mechanical stuff does, but who keeps new trucks theses days and pile on big miles.

Got stuck at Oyen Alberta last week due to a fuse blown on my fuel pump on the 02. Sure wished I had a mechanical pump on it.

Thats not bad at all. My Dodge will only get 600Km to 120L at the best! And as low as 400km with the trailer on! Although I am definitely not easy on it.

I've been tracking my mileage since June (when I got my new phone and a mileage app), my average is low 17 mpg, high of 19.5, low of 14.8 when I was bring my megacab home. This winter fuel and lots of Espar run time are dragging it down.

Yes stock tires. The only changes are what I listed above... it has definately gotten better in the last 20 or 30 thousand K. Previous time I checked it I could only get 26 (real world hand calculated) on the computer it showed about 27 MPG.... so it has been fairly close all along. An example of its abilities,, I filled up in Grasslands, drove home, then drove into town, around town, had an oil change done, drove home (about an additional 100+km, Grassland is about 250ish km) I then drove from my place to Kearl Lake and back today, and I still have 1/4 tank of fuel left.... so far that is around 780 KM, plus quite a chunk of idleing and driving around town.

To be honest Mike, even thought this truck may be harder to work on, it really has never needed anything worked on. And I really dont think that there is anything that would go wrong that would be too tough,, about the only thing that is real hard to get at is the head gaskets actually

Takes the variables out when a lot of people use imperial gallons instead of US gallons. I sometimes use imperial gallons if I want to make myself feel better! Hehehe

Its a lot of work to convert. I figure a person might as well go with the flow. But if you must,, 7l per 100 km is around 31 MPG.

John, my truck at that mileage was about the same,, around the 10 11 l per 100km. It has just been getting better with time. Before I put the tuner and dpf delete it would only get around 13l per 100km (combination city highway) the tuner made a huge difference in all ways.

You guys try Shell V-Power diesel and see a difference? I tried it on Saturday at the new Shell here, since it was 4 cents more. Picked up just under 1 mpg. While thats nothing to write home about, it was a trip out to the mountains that I was, at some points, pushing 25 psi boost on the highway. I filled up today with it, see if it pays off or not.

I even did a 200 kmh blast passing a row of dorks during this trip... my previous best mileage was 8 l per 100km or about 27 28 mpg.

I now have 80000 kms on it, seems to have loosed up a little bit... amazing truck

I too hate L/100km as I have no clue on that scale even though I'm metric savvy on most other things.

Unless I'm missing something really basic...

7L/100km: 100km= 62.1 miles. 7L/4.55 = 1.538 Imperial gallons.

62.1 miles/1.538 Imp Gallons = 40.4 MPG Imperial or 33.6 MPG US.

8L/100km: 62.1 miles/ 1.758 Imp gallons = 35.3 MPG Imp or 29.4 MPG US.

Something is not adding up in my mind...

I dont know what, but you are donig something wrong.. even on the eco boost the epa rating on it, (which it dosent get anywheres close too either I might add) they say it gets 7.xl / 100 km or 31 MPG.

I did the same math as you,, and came up with close to the same answers.... hmmm,, makes you scratch your head

Here is a handy site for that
http://www.onlineconversion.com/fuel_consumption.htm

7l/100k = 33.6 us gal/mi
7l/100k = 40.3 cdngal/mi
8l/100k = 35 cdngal/mi
8l/100k = 29 usgal/mi

You're using 7.00000000... l/100km. If it were something like 7.2l/100km, then it would be closer to 31 mpg.
