Oil Report

I switched the truck over to 100% Amsoil this spring and i just had my first OA done. The oil has 30,000 kms on it with a filter change done 24,000 km's ago when i added my fumoto valve.
Everything is looking good, no fuel dilution or glycol, the truck has 167,000kms on it .
I'm running the 5w-40. I'll do a filter change and top up this weekend.

Whats an oil analysis worth? Give them some fresh oil straight out of the jug for their control sample, or do they have it all on file for various oils?

They have the base stock numbers for the amsoil on the right column of the report Tate.
The sampling bottles are $2 ea 6 or more and the analysis is $17.95, they are up on the hill behind deerfoot mall in the same buildinga s quinn alarms.

Excellent results Chris, & your engine is running just fine.

I'm still old school as I can't imagine not changing my oil for 30, 000km, nor can I even fathom letting an oil filter go for 24,000 km.

So time wise that's about 8 months on that oil. Is that mainly highway mileage?

BTW, last fall I picked up a dozen Donaldson ELF7349 oil filters (Amsoil EAO80 equal) for US$110 shipped to Montana.
This was the cheapest I could find to run the better quality oil filters than the Fleetguards.

I just mention this as I'm sure you are running an Amsoil or Donaldson oil filter right?

Yes i'm running the amsoil filters for both oil and fuel. That's only 5 months of driving Joe i'm running about 5,500 km/month, its a 75km commute to work every day one way plus all the other things i do.

Chris,
Better add a 2 micron fuel filter kit, or lose your injectors soon. Nice truck!

I saw that. Do they have the base stock numbers on file, or do you need to provide them with a clean sample of oil in order to get the base numbers?

Good to see you're still checking in here, Andy.

Ya Tate, I've been hanging around for a while. Hope to make it to a GTG someday.

Chris, my only issue is I see that your acid percentages has increased from the base. The acid is hard on internal parts. What color is the oil currently? I worry about soot build-up myself. I been running shell 5W40 oil that I got from NAPA, I paid $20 for a 5 litre jug. I usually change the oil once it starts to get dark, which ranges around the 8000-12000km mark, depending on my driving/idling. Normally I run the petrocanada duron oil 5W40, but they charge to much for their oil these days.

Mine is dark as soon as I start it up and shut it off to check the level.
