Wow it's been a while since I posted here last. Sold my beloved 3rd Gen and now I've gone and started a project. Tossed around a lot of ideas before finally hauling this 99 dually home. Pulled the 7.3 today and want to drop the 4R100 next week and clean her up. The plan is a 215 pump 12 valve and NV4500. Shooting for 500 or so hp, as long as it spools quick and stays cool pulling a 12000 lb boat I'll be happy if I don't quite get to that number. Got a line on a 96 donor truck for the engine and transmission, will hopefully be getting that into the shop within a couple weeks. List includes a south bend clutch and I'm open to suggestions on which one you'd pick. For air, looking hard at the DPS Fummins twin kit but if I end up using my budget on other stuff that pops up I'd have to settle for an upgraded single. On the fuel side I don't know if I need to do injectors right away or not, maybe some ppump guys can chime in there. But I'd like a FASS and whatever supporting bits the pump needs while the motor's out. Also need advice on where to set the timing for a primarily towing-focused tune. I'm not 100% confident that I'll be able to complete this on my own but I'm going to try. She's not going to be pretty or fancy right off the bat but this is going to be a long term relationship and someday I'd lIke to spruce up the interior and bodywork... one can dream. For now i just want to focus on getting the drive train the way I want it. Thanks for following along and any advice, tips, criticism, etc will be welcome. Anyone care to guess what I paid for the truck? Previous owner is getting the engine back, it drove itself to my shop.
