Cutting 22.5 rims

Tate. I was going to pm you but I though all the locals might want tp hear, I STRONGLY recommend taking the rims to Santos at Alberta wheel & rim. to trim them down to 22.0 he's cutting 1 at a time and fitting the tire each pass. only taking off enough to fit.

I dropped them off with the tires yesterday, he'd of had them mostly done today but i forgot the valvestems. So I checked a lot of references for him too. all say top notch work.

you have no idea how anxious Im getting now that the dodge is sold. but no pics I never hand my camera with me. but they're projected to be done Mon he said.

so my project will roll at least before it drinks diesel. but ordered up a set of flex a lite fans for the 12v, they look skookum. hope to free up some fuel efficincy and critical space for the intercooler and rad. I'm useing the dodge stuff there too. but my tranny guy took an 8lb sledge to his hand 2 weeks ago, so it might be a couple weeks yet before he can finish it. 1 step at a time though.......Im' just happy the rims and tires are finally getting DONE.

So does going down that 1/2" make tire buying more available? I am assuming you can get more rubber selection with 22's?

I don't think they're more available J, I think they're just a lower profile sidewall....it's a dub thannng.....

They had a cut pair bolted to a 1 ton adapter in the lobby at Armor-I took a look at them when Tate and I cut through. I'm too old to run them....in fact I just might be too old to run my 17's even!

turning them down from 22.5 to 22.0 make all of the passenger and LT tires availiable for the rim. a 22.5 heavy truck tire seat is shaped differently than any size passenger tire rim. heavy truck tires show about a 120 degrees on the bead seat and passenger tires near 90 degrees. so essentially its reshaping the bead seat on the rim to accept passenger rated tires instead of class 8 truck tires. after turning them down you can never put a 22.5 tires back on it. it would seat and probably hold air, but they would peel the tires off the rims by the 1st or 2nd turn.

pics ADDED

Just picked them up. after 4 months of battling to get them done. I'll put them on after work tommorrow.

stock tires are aprox 31" tall on the truck new ones are ~32" off the truck. stock Duals are 18 wide, new measure 24" wide.
