4 hours for 45 miles, sounds like no fun. Been a few years since I had to do a commute like that. Probably just jinxed myself.

I was having lunch with my folks today at Pauls Pizza in Airdrie. Watching out the window in the res. area, seen a chev hit the brakes, starts to make a right hand turn, back end swings around and up on to the lawn of the house on the corner. Couldn't have been too far away from nailing the house.

I pick my wife up from the bus stop on center and 64 ave at 4pm and then head up Beddington Tr to Stoney Tr then out to Cochrane. Usually takes me 30min-40min.

Wife called to say at 4:15 that her bus was stuck on a hill at Center and 32 ave, so she walked down Center while I drove up. Got as far as Mckinight Tr and there traffic was stopped due to buses stuck on a hill so I waited for her there.

While waiting for her I heard on the radio that there was a roll over on teh the 1a near Bearspaw and that the Cochrane hill was closed. So after she got up to me we decided to just go out for dinner and wait things out. Took 30 min to get from McKinight up the Coop on Beddington Blvd and Center where we had dinner. At 6:30pm we headed out and got home around 7:30pm not bad actually. Beddington Blvd was a mess but once out of the city things got better.

Talked to my parents when I got home at 8:30, they had left the Glenmore Inn at 6:45 and by 8:30 they had made it to Crowchild Tr and 17ave. Also trying to get to Cochrane.

When I got onto Beddington Tr I noticed lots of sand had been put down. Why didn't they do that with Center? Especially considering the number of hills and all the buses coming out of the downtown.

With all of todays technology for weather and GPS etc, they should have the sanding trucks on the road 10 minutes before the storm hits. It used to be that way when the province ran the highways. I can't believe insurance companies can't have more force on these companies. Its costing them millions.

You guys have it GOOD.

Down here in the Washington DC area, the weatherman only has to mention the WORD snow or ice, and traffic goes into a standstill.................

On the way to work this morning at 3:00AM,Deerfoot and the bridge off-ramps were in really good shape, lots of de-icer/sand etc, mostly wet roads--------But this taken care of by CARMACKS,saw 5 of there trucks working away within 10 KM drive. The remainder of the city looked after by Bronco and his buddies-----sad state..I drive 250Km each day though-out the city and its like night and day with the so called unionized worker and contract help(Carmacks). The city tries to do the least amount of clearing they can get away with and pray for a Chinook.DW----PS i wonder how many city sanders/grader were parked untouched cause of no money in the budget to spend----SAVING IT FOR THAT COST OVERRUN ON THAT FANCY BRIDGE THEY WANT TO BUILD FOR THERE KENNSIGNTON/ ARTSY-FARTSY/LATTE SIPPING/******* DON'T STICK CROWD,AWAYS ENOUGH MONEY FOR THAT "BRONCO'S" LEGACY??????..
