5th wheel with 2nd trailer regulations

Anyone know what the regs are on pulling a second trailer behind a 5th wheel?

I'm building a redneck toyhauler for my Jeep by stripping the running gear off of small 5th wheel and mounting it on the front of a 30' flatdeck trailer. This will leave enough room at the back for the Jeep.

I bought a 30' trailer last week and noticed that it had a 2" receiver hitch on the back. Got me thinking that maybe I could take the quad on a small trailer as well..... Just not sure what the length restrictions are.

Here is the trailer I bought, it a 30" TrailTech gooseneck but someone replaced the GN coupler with a 5th wheel pin.

67' in alberta and saskatchewan,,, not allowed in bc. Also the second trailer has to be hooked up to a class 5 hitch.

Thanks!

By class five I'm guessing you mean a 5th wheel style hitch vs a gooseneck ball?

I'm thinking he means Class V reciever, like whats on most of our trucks, but on the *** end of your gooseneck. Class V is good for 10k pull/1k tongue, Class III is 5k pull/500 tongue, and then Class I and II are the little dinky ones you find on honda pilots and ford festivas.

yes, tate is right, sorry I wasnt more clear on that. If you go travelling you have to check out the laws in each province and state. Alberta, Sask good to go,, BC, nope,, and not sure about which states are good

oh,, and that 67' is tip to stern,, so if you had a boat on the back, they measure right to the end of the prop, from the front of your license plate.

Ok thanks, I knew it was a no-no in BC but see it quite a bit around here. I've been told that the lead trailer needs to be a 5th wheel style hitch and NOT a GN ball but I see that mot new GN trailers old have a receiver in the back.

My GN trailer is setup with a 5iver pin so it should be good, provided I'm under the max length.

Truck is about 22feet, GN is 30ft deck so say 34feet lenght, thats 56feet for the two, leaves about 10feet for the quad trailer, hmm don't think it will work. Oh well theres only about one or two trips a year I would want to bring it and mostly we just putter around the campsite with it.

It is 20M, but according to the regulations on the website they convert it to 67 feet (which was the length before metric system) I also confirmed with a dot officer. I was going to try and pull my boat behind my 5th wheel, but I was a few feet over after I did my research

Clay you probably will be ok. Remember they dont add them they actually measure it as it is hooked up. So even though the truck is 22 feet, it is really only about 16 or 17 to the hitch, then add the 34 feet of trailer on that is only 51 feet. so you would have 16 feet for quad trailer

Don't forget that part of the gooseneck will be inside the trucks length, so you will have more room at the back than 10 feet. Only sure way would be to measure it.
