All nice, but we really dont need an early breakup this year.....

The boys need to make a bit of mooch, can't do that sinkin to the axles.....

Besides, for the first time in what, 30 years, we actually had enough snow to go sledding.....

- 30 to + 10 in a week is only good for the flu...

Rather hold at -10 till March

Tate 01-22-2011 08:28 PM

For those of us without garages, this nice weather means we can actually do something outside. Not that I actually do much. But I could.

madhat 01-22-2011 08:36 PM

Ahh.... I think it hit 77 here today...

morkable 01-22-2011 09:01 PM

Thats a little cold for you isnt it? LOL

Mike Holmen 01-22-2011 09:03 PM

You guys should go to Edmonton, wow, do they have a ton of snow. Must have snowed 2-3cm last night. On the flat ground I bet that there is 40-50cm of snow. The sidewalks look like tunnels and there almost no shoulders anywhere. It been awhile since I seen snow like that. On Monday, I have to drive to Kamloops, can't wait to see what at Rogers pass.

Not this time of year. It gets down in the 40's for a week or so at a time during the cold snaps...

It's why all the DANG Canadians are here!!!

I can imagine that, but don't think it's possible... [laugh]

morkable 01-22-2011 11:15 PM

we never got any of that snow up here,, thank god. We probably only have about a foot in total here....

And that is when you want either a strong back or a snow blower. I'd prefer the snow blower.

Dr. Evil 01-23-2011 02:00 AM

I dont have either...

Mike Holmen 01-23-2011 09:08 AM

Shane, I was think what the heck you do with all that snow. I have a plow on the front of my quad, as I'm an old guy.

Might be a good year to own a snowmobliey, at least one more good reason[laugh] I bet ski should just rock this year, hope the body can handle it.[duhhh]

madhat 01-23-2011 09:17 AM

Yeah, forget that crap. I'm gonna go outside and take my shirt off and walk barefoot in the sand in the back yard...

DWeiler 01-23-2011 09:18 AM

My folks have 4-5 feet in the fields northwest of Peace River---nice thing is if your over 60 the plow comes in and does your yard with one swoop--they do a good job and are on it every time it snows. The grader has the extended plows on both sides, one trip/circle loop into the yard and you have a 30-40 foot cleared path all the way to the barns. They need the water up there this year as last year there was next to nothing---dug out was down 7 feet. Here's hoping.DW

Mike Holmen 01-23-2011 09:47 AM

I saw in the mountains, they are doing the double cut on the snow piles. I luv it. I like snow, just wished I had more money for a sled. If you go off the road, your stuck...[laugh]

I was in the Chetwynn area working, they have a front loader for snow removal. They just dump the snow over the fence. Some years, you can drive over the fence...with the loader[laugh]

something about a penske H&R truck says that thing has seen some "sweet and gentle love" in its life haha

Mike Holmen 01-25-2011 06:31 PM

Hey you hard core sledders out there, Golden has killer deep snow. I bet there is at least 4-5ft at the base. Drove by a few launch points along the hiway coming out wetcoast. Might be 4-5ft at Roger pass.

Literally, they closed the hiway again today for avalanches. Guys planing on going out sledding be careful out there, stick to the trees and meadows.

ccmckee 01-26-2011 09:07 AM

Paul was in Golden last weekend and there was actually too much snow for sledding.

Mike Holmen 01-26-2011 09:28 AM

I think that its the year for long tracks and paddles, true mountain machines. Tons of snow. At this time of year.[coffee]

DWeiler 01-26-2011 04:08 PM

A coworker had to leave his quad and hike out for 4 hours after getting stuck in Waiprus---dark by the time he reached his truck---fetched it the next day with a few other quads.Winch was no help as it was buried to the handle bars in a deep cutline valley. This is what happens when you "RIDE ALONE"[dummy][dummy][dummy].No sympathy from me.DW

Mike Holmen 01-29-2011 09:15 AM

Just got home last night, wow is was snowing up between Rogers pass and Revestoke. I bet it snowed another foot up there. Must have snowed here in Airdrie 1-2in last night, nothing really..[laugh]

If it keeps snowing like this, Brett you will be able to drive the sled over to my house.[coffee][laugh]

dvst8r 02-01-2011 10:36 AM

LOL, if I can ever keep them running I just might. Had a 10km hike out on Saturday, when my sled died, and then my buddies sled that we were using to tow it melted through a coolant line. Still had a good weekend, wasn't really excited to come home to -30 though... [laugh]

Mike Holmen 02-02-2011 07:45 AM

Good to see that you're getting out and enjoying the snow.[coffee]
