***?? I'm getting pretty annoyed at this truck

I read the same thing in others forums with guys towing only using the electric fans and they said they had no problems unless your combined towing weight is over 18K lbs and I don't think I will pulling that amount. But then again, why is it that some guys with second gens have no problems getting their trucks up to normal operating temps and some do.I don't know if the 1st gens have the same problem.I think every truck will be differenet and not sure how much extra fueling will cause the heat to go up,but if I could build a system for less than $600,its worth a shot, but I have to build it cheap, that if it doesn't work,I could throw it in the bush. The thing that concerns me,that at highway speed,I'm able to get close to 90C.How much is the clutch fan cooling,I don't know.I would carry the clutch fan with me,just in case it starts to heat.

A piece of cardboard is pretty cheap to. I think that its just easier to leave it as it is. I have coolant temp issues when I tow in the summer. In the winter, you really don't need the fan for just daily driving. I just idle my truck more in the winter than the summer at work. I can buy lots of diesel for $600, it would take years to pay that off with any fuel savings. Hopefully I don't have to work outside this winter (at least in North America).
The last few years we had crazy ice rains, at that point its real difficult to keep the front wind clear of ice. Usually, I don't have any heater/AC issues and mine works pretty decent, it just takes for ever to heat-up at -30 deg's C.

I seam to remember my dad had a 93 and the coolant temp fluctuated lots to the point that it was hard to keep the cab at one temp in winter. He got a 205 stat, that was built for a tractor and it fixed it. He did run it year round with no issuses.

I wish i had the stat that was in it this summer at least to see what it was cause it ran for 2 1/2 years at a flat temp. oh well, i'm gonna try a "modified" stat tomorrow.
