What's this on the overhead panel?

So you have the Homelink buttons, then above them there is a indented dimple that looks like a camera lens. What is that? Doesn't blink or flash.... Thought it might be the accent light, but that's farther back near the two interior lights....

It's an interior accent light. It shines a soft glow on the center floor board or console (whichever interior you have). Put your finger over it at night, and if I'm understanding what you're talking about, it should go out.

Nope. Its the temp sensor for the automatic temperature control on the a/c.

The accent light is farther back near the double lights. I've also heard "temperature sensor" but it looks like it has glass over it. I'll have to investigate farther. You'd think they'd mention it in the Owner's Manual....

Went through this when I bought my wifes Durango. Its the temp sensor. It is covered with glass. Its an infrared sensor.

Yup, it's a temp sensor. When I got my new truck I had to go back to the dealer to find out what it was.

Sweet. Thanks for the legwork, guys. Now, does anyone know how to take off the overhead panel without wrecking it? I need to tap into a power source for my radar, er, electromagnetic wave detector....
