Ain't that something! Looking at the wiring diagrams, there appears to be a 3-pin fan connector that goes directly to the TIPM and there is also a 6-pin connector going to a Radiator Fan Drive that is connected directly to the PCM.
What's interesting is that can very well be a culprit. Between the PCM and the Radiator Fan Drive there are two wires. One wire is BRN/ORG - Sensor Ground and the other wire is PNK/YEL - 5-Volt Supply. Both of those wires have splices, S172 and S170. From the looks of it, those are shared with the Camshaft Position Sensor, Crankcase Sensor, MAP Pressure/Temp Sensor, Boost Pressure Sensor, Fuel Pressure Sensor, and EGR System. I guess if something isn't getting the proper 5-volt supply or ground, then perhaps it would shut things down.
Doesn't quite make sense unless the 5V supply and ground are shorting out, then I could see that shutting the ECM down. Next time I get my truck in the garage, I'll take a close look at those wires.
Thanks for sharing your fix! Hopefully, that is the end of it for you!!!
