Trailer Brake

I am heading to Yuma AZ on the 27th of December and have my 5th wheel hooked up to my truck. When I hooked up I found the settings on my EVIC and clicked on trailer 1 or whatever it said. I notice that it says Light Electric with a number of 5.5. Is this correct for a 34 foot Jayco Eagle 5th wheel, or should the number be higher and if so what should it be? I noticed on my 2010 Ram that the number was 10.

Take the trailer for a drive and adjust the gain on the dash. You may need more you may need less who knows, depends on how heavy your going to be and so forth.

Thanks, I will watch it on Saturday morning. Most of the first 5 hours are flat,so I can test it without worry.

That 34ft Jayco may not be a heavy trailer but it's not a 3500lb light electric either, I would say you need the heavy setting then play with the gain setting. Remember that the setting you select is the MAX available braking even when you manually slide the lever over.

I tried to change it to heavy electric but I could not get it to change. Can I try it while driving or do I have to do it in park?

To be honest... I don't know I have a 2011 it's my son that now has a 2013, I know he said that the trailer brake was far superior to the one on his old 2011 though. It might be that the truck has to be turned off and the trailer reconnected after selecting.

I was able to find the settings on the main screen and changed it to heavy. I was looking at my dash evic. There are too many electronics on this truck and the CD disc does not help.. At least it doen't help me.
