TPMS on the blink
I was driving home this evening and my ding-ding machine in the dash went off with a "SERVICE TIRE PRESSUE SYSTEM". Tire pressures are fine...
I am going to drop it off at the dealer in the morning on my way to the office to let them work their magic and try to weasle their way out of the warranty....
I have a list of items that i am going to have them check:
TPMS Error
Exhaust Brake feels weak
Sluggishness
The truck only has 4,200 miles on it
I assume they will just flash the ECM on it and all will be ok, but we will see.
Has anyone gotten this message before? What was the culprit for you?
Thanks

What a dumb little light it is.....I started to take my truck into the dealer this morning. And a half mile from the house it goes off. So i went ahead and stop by dealer to ask some quesitions.
Turns out that these things only allow 3 psi fluctuation from the pressures on the door.
They say there is no adjustment that the can make to the system...
So...I guess i will start running all my tires at sidewall ratings or 80psi instead of my 74/65 rear to front ratio. maybe that will keep the little bas#%&d sensors happy....
tire pressures were:
68 72
72 68
as per the ECIM on the dash.. I dont think this should send the system on the fritz....
Keep you posted as to what comes of it...
also wanted them to check the Exhaust brake and lack of take-off power. so they set up an appointment for me next week to take it in and do a diagnostic check.

can the tpms be disabled completely? that'll be my fix if the dealer can disable the whole system.
drive a couple other trucks they have on the lot to compare your power and braking. at least you'll have a seat-of-the-pants reference

There's another thread where some folks have noted that if you came from a manual (stick) tranny to an automatic, it will appear to lack take-off power because the torque convertor needs to spool up. Just a thought...

Here's how to get around it..
Lower pressures so they match the "low" rating on the door sticker
Push the button for "light load" and make sure it sticks..
Raise the pressure to whatever you want (I'm running 70 front 55 back)
