Tailgate Removal
Tailgate Removal
How do you remove the tail gate? I am getting a truck camper and need to remove it. The directions in the owners manual I looked at online do not appear to be correct.
1. It says to lift up on the right side of the tailgate and slide it to the right to free the left side pivot and then remove it.
Tried to do this and the right side does not move when lifted.

Should just clip out on the harness. And there should have been a blank for the plug provided with the truck for if you ever decided to remove the camera. Mine came with one.
The online owners manual was less than clear on how to unhook the backup camera. Took it by a body shop this morning and here are some information that is missing. It is much easier with two people.
Partly take off the tail gate, pull the right side out and have someone hold it while you take out the connector body. this will give you room to handle the connector.
Pull out the RED tab on the connector.
Pull the connector apart.
Now put the protective cover over the connector left connected to the truck, replace connector cover back into the hole in truck frame.
Fully remove tailgate.
