Tailgate Recall

I received a recall notice a while back then regarding the tailgate latch that may fail and cause the tailgate to open suddenly. I ignored it and received a second notice. Soon after that, I used the remote to unlock the truck and tailgate and all I got was a groan and the tailgate would not unlock. I then made an appointment for the recall, but I wonder if the two issues are related. Has anyone else experienced this?

I read about that recall and supposedly it is for a plastic piece that goes on the end of the actuator rod for the tailgate lock. Sounds like that may be your problem.
From what I read, it doesn’t take long to install.

Update

A couple days later, before I had the recall done, my truck reconsidered it's miss-behavior and tailgate started working normally. I had the recall done, which may have taken an hour or so and things have been fine since. Go figure.

That’s the glory of all the electronics crap on these trucks. Glitches in everything.

I often have to operated the unlock button multiple times on my key to get the tailgate to a place where it will allow me to open it. Is that a feature fixed by the recall?
