steering brace installed this weekend
well I have only had it since March and been too busy to get it installed. took a bit to find a darned socket big enough to get the old pitman arm nut off and get a deep socket to get the new one installed (225 ft lbs for anyone who wants to know torque specs on the pitman arm nut)
Will take pics of it when weather clears up a bit. |

I say do it early to save the components you have. The earlier the better.

I did it purely for preventative to keep everything tight. i plan on doing a leveling kit with 35's so keeping things in check now before something happens.

Check out the new leveling kit by Ready Lift (The billet one). I think thats the one I am going with. I am topping them off with poly-bushings and getting rid of the stockers

am going with Thuren progressive spring and fox remote res shocks, adjustable track bar with air bags in the rear to top it off for added load control. Been chatting with Don for the last few months about it and have been chomping at the bit to git r dun but being a tightwad and power paying on some bills before the wedding etc. have been sneaking in a few "needed repairs" on the truck to keep them hid from the woman! LOL

I had a 78 F-250 4x right out of college that had a zillion miles on it (and a new motor eventually) and an 84 Bronco 4x (also eventually with a new motor) and never had any sort of death wobble with them. |

Good point. So what sorts of issues is GM having with it's IFS?

Im adding the brace now. after 90k miles my steering box needs to be replaced so Im doing everyhting I can in hopes that I wont have things prematurely fail again.

It's not just a SFA problem. You have to add coil springs to the mix to get a real good DW. Actually any lift, bigger tires, anything worn or loose, and not enough caster and welcome Mr DW to your home.
