My son has the 8.4AN in his 2013, it started acting up then the screen went black and now it needs another unit. Cost is $2200 for a "rebuilt" one from the dealer, we have searched around and there is no alternative to the factory unit as it also controls the HVAC and the trailer brakes. Don't want to spend $2200 on a used/rebuilt head then have that one go dark in a few months. The dealer says new ones are not available.

Yuck luckily on my 14 I have the tradesmen so I have the lower end radio and all my hvac and trailer stuff is completely separate from the radio thank god.

Oh no. My 99 did that. It was the simpler style radio. It would scare the crap out of you. Going down the road and it would just jump to wide open. Sometimes it would go go low. I would start planning on an aftermarket upgrade. The Kenwood DVD receivers fit well and look good. They take a backup camera. I wired mine on a switch so I can see it anytime I wanted, not just reverse only. You'll need a $75 adapter that handles the security feature that will be gone with the factory radio. Best Buy has them in the back. Just ask.

I used best Buy Item # 3500093 with this camera #8732622

I added a switch that sends power to the lead on the radio to trigger the backup camera. Now at any time I can flip it on. used it last week to keep an eye on a load on my trailer. I mounted the camera in the tailgate handle. One you pull the handle out, you'll see the spot where the factory camera is intended to go. I used the drill but that came with the camera. Had to run a video cable and a power cable into the tailgate. Best Buy had the install kit 2253672 to adapt the hole. The factory radio is just a tad bit smaller than a standard double din radio. There was a metal piece I had to remove. it won't hurt a thing. It really was an easy install. The radio I chose didn't have navigation. I plan on using the navigation on my android phone. You just need a special cab;e that I haven't ordered yet.

I also put the wire that is suppose to go to the parking brake directly to ground. That will allow my grandson to watch a movie while were driving.
