The transmission is to be built in Chrysler's Canadian Kokomo plant.

I just heard on a Detroit radio station, WWJ, that Kokomo is getting a 300 million dollar upgrade for an eight speed tranny.

Reads like no official details yet for what vehicles the trannies go into. Hope it helps our local economy. Here is a link to the local paper:

Isn't a "megacab" an extended cab? Quad cab the standard.

I believe he means like a cab that has regular front doors with the small bench seat and suicide rear doors.

I hate the mega and quads - try opening in a grocery parking lot - you having a hard time? The suicide rears are the best - no problems and I don't put anything back there but tools and groceries

Can't wait to see a class 6 Dodge! I wonder if it will have an 8.3L?

So what happened to the 8 speed trans?

..and suicide doors? Please. That order of operations is a pita. My buddies and I call it the nuts to butts move. One guy has to open his door, then get out of the way. The other has to open his a different way, and get in first then close his door, all so the first guy can come back and finally get in. What a joke. I'll keep my megacab anyday. Even a quad cab really. Get in wherever you want in whatever order you want. Your door works just like mine...

The 8 speed is on its way, its already in the charger. The plan is to mate it with the 3.6l in the 1500 and 300. In the Grand Cherokee it will be the standard trans with 3 engine options, the 3.6l the 5.7 Hemi and the 3.0 diesel due to launch this fall.
