raise flatbed 4"??

I have a 2011 3500 4x4 cab chassis with a flatbed that was on it when I got it. Im wanting to raise the bed 4" because now its 3" above the tires. Im wanting to put taller tires and I don't like the way it looks yada yada so that's why Im wanting to raise it. I was thinking about setting 2x4 tube up on its side and welding it to the bed then sitting it on the frame and either bolting or welding it on. It is welded on now (somewhat). In a few years I might get around to building a complete bed ,,, but just want this one to last till then.... Any opinions on how I should do this?
Thanks in advancehttps://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.die...3ffe805bf6.jpg

When I installed mine I used stainless tube steel crossmembers across frame rails first, achieving what you want.
