New diesel owner
Hello, new guy here, and when I say NEW, it’s not just to this site, but to the DIESEL world.
I have owner numerous trucks (Chevy, Ford and DODGE), the last 2 were a 2006 DODGE MEGA CAB and a 2009 1500. Both trucks were 4x4 Laramie’s and great trucks. Although the best riding truck I have owned, the ‘09 RAM 1500 was just too soft for towing, so I decided to go back to the MEGA CAB, and then thought, what the heck, give the diesel a go. Fingers crossed, this will be it for a while.
WOW is this truck awesome. I have already added a front leveling kit, truck box, front window tint, and exhaust cap. The 35” TOYO MT’s will be put on today, using the factory LARAMIE 17” wheels.
Like I mentioned, I am very new to the DIESEL, so please excuse my ignorance while I learn a thing or 2, or 3…or 500. I look forward to some good advice from the experienced truck owners, so don’t hesitate to send a message or suggestions worth considering.
My next mod will be a programmer, but a friend told me to hold tight for now. He mentioned that there is a programmer out being used on the FORDs and CHEVYS that helps tremendously with MPG, but not yet available for the DODGE, something to do with the, EXHAUST, DPF, EGR, REGEN?????????
Anyone care to comment on programmers? Please understand, I’m not looking for a race truck, this truck has a ton of power and plenty fast enough. Most importantly, I want to improve the fuel economy (MPG), if it gives a bit more performance, then it’s a double win. I also realize that fuel economy starts with the right foot, I will do my best to keep it light, but sometimes that is a bit hard to control.
I look forward to talking with you all.
Thanks
JAM
