So this happened the other day in my 2011 Dually. Was waiting for the screen to fix itself but also don't want to fork out $1200 for a replacement.

Did a search but came up with almost nothing. Is this a common issue? And if so is there a cheaper fix than replacing the whole unit? Thanks...

 

Don't know if this will help. On the wife's kia, hers went crazy. After alot of Google, I found where someone said there was a teeny tiny reset button. On this it was on the very upper right corner of it all. Several years of having it and its so small we had never noticed it. Maye look close for something like this. I used a strait pin to press it, it was so small. Won't hurt to look.

Dumb question, but have you tried a battery disconnect for ten minutes?

The likely solution will be to replace the entire head unit with a double DIN Alpine nav unit for the same price of the repair. No cheap alternatives!
