My First Load (my turn)

16 foot Interstate motorcycle trailer 2600#'s and 1 bike at about 600#'s about 3200#'s is all it was.

Made the truck ride 10 times better than it has so far, fuel milage one way was 11mpg, loaded the bike on and the way back it was only 9mpg. The way back was all up hill to just past the highest point in Ohio. You always hear people say they couldn't even tell the trailer was back there?, well I couldn't unless I looked in my mirrors which were perfectly designed, I give it an A- just because I think it should have done better on the fuel. Very happy though, I read on here about the brake controllers and found mine had some delay in it which didn't seem to cause any problem, but I didn't have any panic situations where I needed them to come on instantly. When I was trying to wire my third brake light on my cap I noticed thru my trailer light plug that when the brake controller comes on, the test light was dim and gradually came on brighter, I never tested another one like that so I don't know if thats normal or not, but heres a pic of the rig.

I knew I should have got a picture of my first load 23k lb Payloader on our 9K lb 35' trailer...with my 8K lb truck....40K Gross

Wow, hadn't did the math until now, no wonder the brakes were mushy!! I didn't go as far as you guys, about 50-60 miles.

My mileage sucked too, about 6mpg, but I was all country roads!

Keep working them things, they like it!

I'm going to try and kill it on the 5th of March, 1,000 miles the first leg with the trailer really full of bikes Hammer down, see if the Dodge can make it faster than the Chevy did. I will say in the Chevy I guess it didn't do much better towing now that I think about it, My bud Larry drove 80 to 100+ and it only got about 9mpg when he drove, I could get 11 or so going a lot slower 70 to 75. I gotta get outta Ohio to see if it does better running fast, if not it'll just be fun passing everyone going up the mountains.

Your red truck looks great with the cap on it! Your photo reminds me of my truck when I hook up our 16ft enclosed trailer on it. big *** drop stinger........Man these Dodges are tall in the butt. I am tearing my factory hitch out and putting in a class v rated for 1800/18000. Hopefully the new hitch has the receiver a little lower than factory.

Your right about em sitting high, with the trailer sitting level I was 6 inches high and with the load level bar attachment thingys I needed a 11 drop. Looks kinda stupid without the trailer on it but once it's hooked up you really don't notice how much drop there is.
