looking at getting a 2011
hey been a while since I was on here, anyways, looking at getting a 2011 ram 2500, cuimmins obviously, but have not been able to gather much info about the power train I would like to run.the plan is to order a reg cab long box 2x4, with 6 speed standard (yes still avaliable) and a 3.42's in the rear end. to me it seems like an excellent choice for what I do. anybody else have somthing similar and how does it work for you??
one other thing, is the 6.7 as well known for reliability as the 5.9?? when they first came out a few years back I heard nothing but bad things.....
any input would greatly appreciated. thanks guys.

I picked up a 2011 2 weeks ago. I love it more every day. I would consider the 3500 over the 2500, with a GVW over 10,000 the TPMS is not required. It seems that the TPMS is troublesome. The cost difference is min.
Just my thoughts.

hey djm what kind of milage are you seeing with that driveline, most guys here are seeing 17-20 mpg, but most seem to have the auto and the tallest gears you can get with that are 3.73's. Im kinda think somthing around 21-23 mpg. but I could be wrong.

wow I would have thought better as well, could be its not broken in yet, you know its funny though my modified 94 used to get the same mileage running double the horsepower and torque, it really makes one think with todays technology, why cant a 25-30 mpg full size diesel truck be made... ah well still not going to stop me completely from looking at getting one.
thanks for the info.

Thank the EPA on that one.... I do have to say, that my new stock 2011 with 4.10 gears does have a lot of oomph when you step on it. Compares powerwise with my 2001 with Edge Juice.... Less MPG, but well worth it for all the creature comforts, IMHO....

He may be refering to the vehicle inspection. Here in TN, if your GVWR is 10,500 or above, you are not required to get the vehicle emmision tested for renewal of your tags every year. Just a guess though.

No big deal, but search the site for TPMS. Just trying to save Sguy a possible headache.

I think here in canada its a bit diffrent, as far as I know the tpms is optional on all dodge trucks. there are ways to defeat the system. if it becomes too much of an annoyance
