Jump Seat Removal
I'm a first genner from way back but my wife wanted more reliability so I bit the bullet earlier this year and bought a low-mileage 2017. This is my first post on the Fourth Gen Forum...
My current center front seat ("jump seat") does not have the lower storage bin (below the seat bottom) but I've sourced a nice one from a boneyard with the storage bin. So I now want to remove and replace my old jump seat and will need to first remove either the driver seat or passenger seat -- which should it be? What about the small plastic tray on the floor in front of the jump seat (covering the heater duct) -- does it come off easily?
Any other tips would be appreciated...
TIA.

I can't speak for the 4th gen trucks, but my 3rd gen removal was easier after I unbolted all front seats, but I may have done that to remove the center seat belt which I no longer needed...My memory fades...

Okay; I completed the chore today. For posterity, the driver seat must come out completely and, although the passenger seat can remain in place, all four bolts securing it to the floorboard should be removed. To detach the small tray in front of the jumpseat one must first remove the rubber liner in the tray and then use an 8mm socket with extension to remove two screws securing the tray to the floor. The ductwork under the small tray has a clever sliding mechanism which slides back (toward the jumpseat) for removing the jumpseat. The jumpseat contains a 3-plug wiring harness which connects to three plugs under the driver seat.
I'm happy to now have an extra storage compartment under my jumpseat. Although I do not currently carry a sidearm, it is nice to know I now have a place to store one if ever I decide to do so...
