2011 2500 Crew Cab Diesel, put my cap on today and got the dome light wired to the constant hot in the trailer light connector so that works good. The problem is the 3rd brake light can't be wired that way, you have left turn and right turn and no brake light wire, it uses the turns for the brake light, if you wire to one of those yea it works for the brake, but it also comes on with the turn signal. Someone mentioned there was a 3rd brake light wire in a wiring harness by the spare tire but I can't unwrap all those harness' to find it what a mess I'd make of that. So if someone has an answer or a solution I'd like to hear it, Thanks Mark.

 

What I did was wire to the left turn brake light. My reasoning is turning left if the top flashes so what it helps keep idiots from comming around me when I go left. I could not find just a brake light wire like you said

 

all of my dodge's have had a wire in the harness like mentioned above. I want to say it was white but don't remember for sure. They all had a little tag on them marked "CHMSL". They aren't long enough to reach all the way in to the cap wire.

I just built a splice and grounded to one of the convenient holes that would take a screw and madet a pig tail so I could snap on and off with the topper.

 

Yep, it's suppose to be white with a pink strip. Never did find it, but yesterday I ran a wire clear up front and thru the fire wall to the switch on the brake pedal, what a pain but I feel so much better now. I like stuff to work the way it's suppose too, one of my OCD things I suppose, but I call it CDO that way all the letters are in order as they should be.........
