Finally buying a used 2014 laramie I need advise or opinions

Hi there guys newbie here as far as the Dodge ram diesels are concerned , I have some questions for you guys, as the title shows I am about to pull the trigger and buy a used 2014 laramie crew cab with the 6.7 and I just happened to read some reviews on the truck itself and dodge in genera and it sounds like the people really complained on various things such as radios going out, rust, alignment problems right off the showroom floors, now this being said have you guys had this many problems with your doges? Or is it just a few people with this kind of bad luck, what is your opinion and do you guys think that at 22000 miles too early to do a pdf and egr delete on the truck,?

I use to have an 08 duramax and I sold it, I did a pdf and egr delete when it only had 10k miles but I never had a single problem with my lmm but I hear that we need to keep the dodge diesel stock till the warranty goes out because of possible defects, now this being said have you had any problems in taking your trucks to the dealer even though the truck has been deleted?

Any advise would be appreciated and just maybe I will buy that laramie this week.

Thanks

If you delete you are your own warranty station. The Manufacturer will look for ANY reason to deny coverage.

They're solid trucks, I haven't heard about any of the complaints you mention. Personally, I wouldn't delete (it's "DPF" by the way) right-away. For most people there's simply no need to delete a DEF (Urea) truck (2013+). Stock, these trucks have more power than you'll ever want and get excellent mpgs too. Best to keep your warranty in-tact for its duration. Once you get out of warranty, eventually the emissions gremlins will start popping up and then you might consider deleting just to simplify things under the hood. If it ain't there it cant break.

Leave the emissions on the truck and put a TS Stryker on for a little extra power. 10 minutes you can take it on and off.

Thanks for the advise there and yes you're right I meant to say DPF but auto correct took over and I didn't realized that [duhhh][duhhh]

I hate my 14. They sit to low to work on. Closed crank case system w/ with a $100 filter every 30k mile if you want to keep your turbo clean, horrible fuel economy (13 Highway/9 towing 18K GCVW), the seats are hard as a rock, interior lights have issues, the center console rattles, the buttons don't work great on the shifter or the steering wheel, $100 fuel filters every 12k miles, oil changes every 5k miles as it is sooty black with the egr and now to top it all off I have intermittent service def issue that the dealer can't figure out. oh and if you get service def error it will limit you to 5 mph in about 200 miles. Really crappy when you are 200 miles from home on a weekend. It could just be my truck but this def issue is about the final straw. I'm either selling it or deleting. I have heart burn for what I paid for the truck and now have to put $2000 into it to make it run right since Detroit doesn't have the balls to tell CARB and the EPA to **** off.

Dieselfreak 21.... Perhaps you should look into "Lemon Law"

I had a 14. Loved it, but did Lemon due to the "fix" for the Track Bar Recall. You should see what was done for the Recall on this Vehicle.

Now I have a 16. Gotta tell you, my 14 was far more powerful! Both are stock, no mods. Willing to bet my 16 would never post the claimed HP an TQ on a dyno. The 16 is quieter inside and a few refinements. But towing with the 14 was far better.

I did. It used so they aren't as friendly on used trucks in this state. Since all under warranty thus far and they haven't fixed anything. It just fixes is self. It has done it twice now. It sits now mostly and I drive my 99 unless is really cold lol.

Consider what you read carefully. Unhappy owners complain, yet most happy owners don't say much. Also, this forum represents a small amount of owners, however they are very knowledgeable about these things. Ultimately it's your choice. Like any used vehicle you can be buying a gem or someone else s problems. That's just part of buying used. I personally will never drive anything else. I have a 12 right now.

I have a 14 Laramie. 50k, only problem was a fan bearing. A few radio recalls/flashes. Been a great truck. Heavy towing for 20k of those miles.
